The Amateur Baseball Committee of Tokyo Sports Writers’ Club gave 2020 Special Prize to Tokyo Big-6 University Baseball League (Tokyo Big-6) on December 25 for having held its 2020 “Spring Competition” with spectators incident-free, which was delayed by 4 months to August, under detailed measures under uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemics. All the other 25 University Baseball Leagues in Japan cancelled their Spring Season.
The award recognized its achievement which served as an exemplary case followed by other University Baseball Leagues in Japan for their Autumn Competition.
The Tokyo Big-6, the longest running baseball league in Japan dating back to 1925, comprises six prominent universities in Tokyo; Waseda, Keio, Meiji, Hosei, Tokyo and Rikkyo
