The Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) announced today, 07/12/2020, that Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimoor KHAN BHATTI confirmed his support to build the first-ever baseball stadium in Pakistan. The announcement was made after a meeting between PFB President Syed FAKHAR ALI SHAH and Minister Khan Bhatti.
During the meeting, Fakhar Ali Shar briefed the Sports Minister of the efforts being made for the development and promotion of baseball in the country, and how baseball is gaining immense popularity in Pakistan and especially in Punjab, the most populous province in Pakistan, with more than 110 million inhabitants.
In February 2020, the PFB had received a land donation from the real estate company Ajwa City in order to build the first baseball field in Gujranwala, a city located in Punjab, north of the provincial capital Lahore.
The PFB has focused on the development of the game in the country and particularly in the Punjab province, opening youth and women’s baseball academies in Okara and Rawalpindi respectively.
Currently, Pakistan is ranked 27th in the WBSC Men's Baseball World Rankings and 17th in the women’s discipline.
