Sri Lanka Baseball team has been able to secure Silver Medal at 11th West Asia Baseball Cup held in Lahore, Pakistan.
Sri Lanka lost final match to Pakistan after having given very good fight. Although batting line of Pakistan team is very strong Sri Lanka Pitcher Sanjeewa Jayarathne has been able to restrict them to 3 runs. Mr. Shaukat Javed Chief Guest and Mr. C.I Park Guest of Honor distributed the medals and trophies among players. Mr. Umair Imdad Bhatti declared Best Batsman of the tournament and Muhammad Usman was Best Pitcher of the tournament.Further Sri Lanka catcher Nelanka Karunarathne has been adjudged as the best catcher in the tournament.
Mr. Lu, Chao-Asiung (Taiwan) was Chief Umpire and Mr. C.S Wang (Taiwan) was First Base Umpire, Mr. Tharanga (Sri Lanka) 2nd Base umpire and Mr. Zafar Warraich (Pakistan) was 3rd Base umpire.
