INTERCONTINENTAL STADIUM. Chinese Taipei scores in every inning but the fourth to get a 17-5 mercy-rule victory against Mexico Wednesday night in the Intercontinental Stadium, for the last day of Round One of the XXVI 18U Baseball World Cup.
Anything but a pitcher’s game, it started with a 4-run offense by the North Americans, followed by a 6-run reply of the local favorites.
The first was also the inning where Chinese Taipei committed its two errors of the game, while Mexico had serious difficulties handling the speed of its opponents, and at the end the defensive errors for red-green-whites were 6.
Taipei sent on the mound 5 pitchers. Mexico 4, but none of them was capable to give a stop to the Asian lineup, which collected 13 hits (1 double) to secure itself the second position in the Group A.
The host team will start the Second Round (Group C), against Cuba on Thursday.
