Japan High School Girls’ Baseball Federation and Womens’ Baseball Federation of Japan (President, Ms. Hiroko YAMADA) announced on Aril 28 that the final game of National Girls High School Baseball championship will be held on August 22 at the Hanshin Koshien Studium in Nishinomiya on the rest day of National High School Baseball Championship, for the first time in history.
The Girls’ Championship Series which started in 1997 had been mostly staged in Tanba City, Hyogo Prefecture and the 23rd Meet in the summer of 2020 was joined by 32 team won by Sakushin Gakuin (Tochigi Pref.) followed by Riseisha (Osaka). The event was cancelled in 2021 owing to COVID-19. 41 high school baseball clubs of total 1,100 registered number of players which are on the rise. The game comprises 7 innings with designated hitters allowed.
Hiroko Yamada, President of Womens’ Baseball Federation of Japan welcomed the move as it draws great encouragement from women players.
