Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball/Softball Association conducted their annual scorer refresher course recently in Colombo. The course was conducted at Royal College Skills center through out 2 consecutive in house sessions and 2 consecutive practical sessions during a tournament.
Training sessions were carried out by Mr Hasitha Raviranga Director Baseball Scorers and Mr Pasindu sharing their experience among the participants'.
The world No. 52 Sri Lanka Men’s National Baseball Team surprised No. 24 Pakistan, 4-2, to win the West Asia Baseball Cup for the first time ever and advance to the BFA Asia Baseball Championship 2017. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are qualified to participate in the 28th Asian Championship in New Taipei City in Late September. East Asia, represented by Hong Kong and Philippines, will take on Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei and China jointly with two West Asian nations at the 8-team tournament of Baseball Federation of Asia.
Elsewhere, Sujeewa Wijayanayake, an international umpire of Sri Lanka and Japan, was invited to call a friendly game between Miyazaki University of Japan and Chiai University in Taiwan this week.
