Boost to Asian Baseball: 2017 Hong Kong International Baseball Open Successfully Concluded

Hong Kong won the champion of the National Team Pool by defeating Singapore 16-1, and Ateneo Blue Eagles, Philippines defeated Sydney University Baseball Club in the final, 10-4, to be the champion of the Club Team Pool in the WBSC Hong Kong International Baseball Open (HKIBO) 2017 on December 17.

Hong Kong Baseball Association (HKBA), host of the event, President Philip Li commented “HKIBO is getting more and more popular in the international baseball community and moving forward to attract the participation of many more elite athletes.”  HKBA Chairman Dr. Felix Yip echoed the sentiment and thanked all our umpires, scorers, volunteers, players, coaches, and baseball lovers for making this wonderful tournament a huge success.  Masanori Miyoshi acted as Chairperson of Organizing Committee and Sujeewa Wijayanayake of Sri Lanka joined umpire squad in addition to those from participating countries
