Pakistan baseball leader Fakhar Ali Shah was behind the games at record altitude, hoping to develop baseball in the northern portion of Kashmir.
Baseball has hit an 'all-time high' in Pakistan, with games recently staged at an elevation of 2,228 metres (approximately 7,310 feet or 1.3 miles), a record for the sport in the country.
The Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) organized two exhibition matches in Skardu as a means to promote the game in Gilgit-Baltistan, the northern portion of Kashmir and a top-rated destination for tourists willing to see the K2 mountain.
The best baseball players in the country were split into two teams: Pakistan Green and Pakistan White. The Green team won the first game, 9-3. Muhammad Sumair Zawar led his team offensively, connecting for a bone fide mile-high home run.
The White team came back to win the second game, 8-6. The winners were led by the bats of Umair Imdad Bhatti and Syed Amin Afridi.
In further development activity, PFB also organized a two-day coaching clinic run by Pakistan National Team pitching coach Tariq Nadeem.
"We hope this initiative will help promote baseball in Gilgit-Baltistan," said PFB President Fakhar Ali Shah.
Pakistan is currently 27th of more than 80 countries and territories featured in the WBSC Baseball World Rankings.
