Coupled with the single round-robin decision, the Big-6 decided to delay the start of the 2020 Spring Season from April 11 to the End of May, due to the uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nippon Professional Baseball on March 23 announced a second delay to the start of the baseball season, with opening day moved to April 24.
This is the 5th single round-robin contest since autumn of 1915, 1916 and 1917 before the war, and spring of 1921 after the war when the Baseball Control Act was enforced.
Earlier in April, Japan Amateur Baseball Association (JABA) cancelled 46th National Championship of which was scheduled to kick off in Osaka on July 2 .
69th Japanese National University Championship has been postponed from June 8 to August 12. The 30th Honkbal Week Haaarlem scheduled for June 25 was cancelled.
Tokyo Big-6, the longest running baseball league in Japan dating back to 1925, comprises six prominent universities in Tokyo; Waseda, Keio, Meiji, Hosei, Tokyo and Rikkyo.
