1st WEST ASIA BASEBALL UMPIRING CAMP

Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball / Softball Association is proud to announce that all arrangements have been finalized for the 01st West Asia Baseball Umpiring Camp to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on this 16th & 17th November 2013. We are thankful to the BFA for their approval, financial assistance and supervision of the event. We thank Mr.Khawar Shah, Executive Director West Asia Region of BFA for his support for this project.

The two day Umpiring Camp will be attended by umpires from India, Pakistan, Nepal and Iran in addition to the Sri Lankan Umpires. Event will be held at the newly built JAPAN – SRILANKA FRIENDSHIP BASEBALL GROUND and will be conducted by Mr.Koji Aso, Deputy Umpire Director BFA and Chairman Rules and Umpiring Committee BFJ. Mr. Aso will be assisted by Mr.Shinnou Yutaka Umpire Head of Kyushu Japan and Mr.Sujeewa Wijayanayake.

Mr.Wijayanayake is a Sri Lankan who has won a reputation as a international baseball umpire and recently appointed by the BFA as the Umpire Supervisor for the West Asia Baseball Cup 2013 that will be held in the 04th week of November in Pakistan.

Mr.Calvin Yeh from the BFA training department will be here to supervise the event and the camp will be concluded with awarding of certificates for those who successfully completes the training program.

SLABSA launched women’s baseball in the country last week and hoping to host baseball events that will be beneficial to the Asian region and world at large.
