LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News, app - 8th Oct, 2018 ) :President Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) Syed Fakhar Shah and Director Youth Punjab Baseball Association (PBA) Rai Muhammad Usama S ultan Monday met Provincial Sports Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti here in his office.
President PFB gave a detailed briefing about the performance of PFB regarding overall development of the game. He said that this year Pakistan U12 Baseball Team has participated in 10th U12 Asian Baseball Championship 2018 in Taiwan where the team got 4th Position.
Similarly Pakistan Senior Baseball Team participated in the 18th Asian Games Jakarta Indonesia and got 5th Position. This performance of Pakistan Baseball Teams is a strong indicator that baseball is at a constant rise in Pakistan which has improved its international ranking being 23rd team in the world.
The Punjab sports minister congratulated PFB officials on the good performance of its teams and acknowledged the efforts of national baseball body for the development of the game.
Syed Fakhar Shah requested the minister for extending support for development of baseball in Punjab by providing at least one qualified coach.
He added that there is no proper baseball playing field in the province and the competitions were organized on make shift basis which is hampering the development of baseball. The only baseball field in Punjab is property of a private housing society. He requested the Minister for the provision of a baseball field in Punjab.
Syed Fakhar Ali Shah also requested the Punjab Sports Minister to direct the SBP for supplementing the ongoing efforts of PFB for holding of the international baseball events in Punjab.
"We such cooperation we can hold the Asian Women Baseball Championship China, West Asia Baseball Cup Sri Lanka, Under 15 Asian Baseball Championship China and Asian Baseball Championship Chinese Taipei in years to come," he said.
The sports minister assured PFB officials of joining hands with the　federation for promotion of the game.
