International Women’s Baseball: LG Cup takes off in Korea

The Women’s Baseball Association of Korea (WBAK) and LG Electronics are co-hosting the third edition of the WBSC-sanctioned LG Cup. The international women’s baseball tournament features 8 teams from 7 countries — including a team from France — the first team from Europe to play in the event.

The international competition runs from Friday, 25 August to Monday, 28 August at Champions Park in Icheon, Korea.Games will be televised nationally.

LG Corp. vice chairman Koo Bon-joon, LG  Electronics senior vice president Lee Chung-hak at LG Electronics, Icheon mayor Cho Byung-don, Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) chairman Heo Goo-yeon, and WBAK chairman Han Taek-keun were present at the opening ceremony.

“LG is proud to take a leadership role in celebrating female athletes through the LG CUP International Women’s Baseball Tournament and we will continue to support female athletes all over the world” said Lee Chung-hak, LG Electronics senior vice president.

Electronics giant LG was the title sponsor of the LG Presents WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2016 in Gijang, Korea.
