Sri Lanka organizing its first ever Inter-University Baseball Tournament

Eleven University teams will compete at the inaugural ‘Sri Lanka University Baseball Championship’ organised by the Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball-Soft ball Association (SLABSA). The championship will be held at the Colombo University grounds and at Diyagama Baseball Stadium from 1 to 3 February.

This is a unique tournament which is been played for the very first time amongst the top Universities in the island. This will be an ideal opportunity for the undergrads to take to the game and elevate it to a higher level in due course.

The tournament will be played on a knock-out basis, with the top two teams qualifying to play in the Malinda Arumadura Memorial Trophy, to be held later this year.  SLABSA has also drawn a schedule to introduce baseball to the university lasses.

Participating teams: University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Colombo, University of  Moratuwa, University of  Kelaniya, University of Peradeniya, Sabaragamuwa University, University of Ruhuna, Wayamba University, Rajarata University, Uva Wellassa University, South Eastern University.
