The Big-6 announced that the 2020 Spring Season will be played by limiting 3,000 spectators which is about 10% of 34,000 capacity of the Meiji Jingu Stadium in Tokyo.
The “Spring Season”, which opens on August 10, had been scheduled to start in April which has been delayed due to the uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time in 74 years, the Big-6 will play single round-robin. This is the 5th single round-robin contest since autumn of 1915, 1916 and 1917 before the war, and spring of 1921 after the war when the Baseball Control Act was enforced.[TK1]
The cheerleading squads will not be present in the stadium but participate by being projected on the center-field screen.
Tokyo Big-6, the longest running baseball league in Japan dating back to 1925, comprises six prominent universities in Tokyo, Japan; Waseda, Keio, Meiji, Hosei, Tokyo and Rikkyo.
