One More Shut-Out for Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea

Day 2 of U-12 World Baseball Cup

Korea confirmed as a group B power with another shut-out win: 13-0 in five innings against Australia. Korea’s pitching was once again impressive. Starter Jung Mingyu was perfect over two innings. Lim Hogil, Lee Myeongjae and Han Junhui pitched one inning each without giving up a hit. Australia reached on the lone defensive error by Korea in the bottom of the fifth.

Japan matches Korea with the second shut-out win in as many games. The young Samurai defeated Cuba, 6-0.
Four Japanese pitchers limited Cuba to three hits. A key play by center fielder Rui Akazawa in the top of the second helped them remain unbeaten.
Japan’s offence made the most of six hits thanks to aggressive base running.

In the night game Chinese Taipei defeated South Africa 19-0 in four innings.  South Africa couldn’t get a hit against four Chinese Taipei pitchers: Cyuan Ruei, Chen Yu An, Hsu Tzu Cheng and Chang Yao Yun.  Chinese Taipei broke the score open in the second with a two-out rally that began against starter Jaedon Jonathan. The hosts got 6 hits, including a double by shortstop Yeh Hung Jen and a triple by right fielder Kuo Chen An.
South Africa needed two pitching changes to end the at bat.

No pitching change was going to stop Chinese Taipei, that added 8 more hits, including a home run by center fielder Chiang Tsung Chun, and 11 more runs.
